Accounting Industry Showcase

Location: Instructional Centre, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

Partnered with the UTSC Department of Management, the Industry Accounting Showcase was a one-day conference consisting of a variety of innovate and captivating accounting-related activities. With this event running its first year, students were given a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a sneak peak into some of the biggest organizations in Canada as well as get the chance to ask their questions in a more intimate and casual environment.

With over 300 students in attendance, this event allowed students from UTSC pursuing a career in accounting the opportunity to sit in on individual company workshops and learn about the organization as well as the opportunities they can offer. Ranging from industry giants to accounting firms, attendees were able to select the sessions that interest them and interact with recruiters and young professionals in a more relaxed environment.


Annual Networking Dinner

Interested in having a one-on-one dinner with some of the brightest leaders in the accounting industry? In the Association of Accountancy’s Third Annual Networking Dinner, we did not hold back. This year, participants had the opportunity to dine with various professionals ranging from industry experts to recruiters from the big 4 accounting firms.

The Annual Networking Dinner, which took place at the Cantina Mercatto Restaurant was a unique experience for students to exclusively network with professionals and share a luxurious dinner experience in an intimate setting. Through a one-on-one dinner with the brightest leaders in the accounting industry,  UTSC students were able to gain valuable advice and knowledge about different career pathways in the accounting field. With a follow-up of networking opportunities, students got to share their stories and showcase their strengths with different recruiters.


Annual Director Hiring

With the 2018/2019 year coming to and end, AOA had reached the period where we aim to look for the next generation that will continue to carry the legacy of the organization. Through this process, individuals who have a passion for the accounting profession as well as the drive to enhance the UTSC university experience were given the opportunity to make an impact and apply to become a director for the association of accountancy

Starting in early spring, students interested in any of the positions offered would hand in an application, which would be followed by an interview if successful.

If you would like to join AOA, we encourage you to apply next year for the 2020/2021 school year or apply to be an associate for the 2019/2020 year.

Senior Mentorship Night

Date: March 14, 2019
Location: Instructional Centre, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

Are you a student interested in accounting? Do you have an interest in working at one of the Big Four accounting firms and want to learn more/get personal insights? The Senior Mentorship Night was the perfect opportunity to get first hand testimonies from one’s very own peers and colleagues.

Being the annual associate event, Students had the opportunity to meet UTSC students who have either completed or are currently completing their work term at one of the big four firms. During this event, individuals were able to listen to their journey, get resume writing tips, and receive advice on how they can get a chance to work at one of these firms.


Industry Accounting Panel and Networking Session

Date: March 7, 2019
Location: Instructional Centre, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

Partnered with The Young Professional Division (YPD) of CPAC, also known as Enlight, the Industry Accounting Panel and Networking Session is a yearly recurring event that provides students useful tips and valuable information on different career pathways within the accounting  industry. With the attendance of a variety of representatives ranging from the hospital industry to the investment banking industry, this event helped students learn about how accounting plays a huge role in well-known companies and top banks as well as breaks down the stereotypes of the profession.


Speaker and Networking Night

Date: November 2, 2019
Location: Instructional Centre, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus

Through this event, students were given the opportunity to hear from Pong Studios and Levi’s in an informative, yet interactive speaker session on Friday, November 2nd. Soon after the session, individuals were then able to attend a networking session where they were able to have an honest conversation with someone who was in their shoes not too long ago. This new and innovative event encouraged many to meet new people and learn from others’ unique and valuable experiences.
